Aexis Medical Announces Major Enhancements to XLine for Endoscopy

New capabilities in image capture, NEDi2-compliant reporting, and Tristel wipe traceability position XLine as a complete, single-platform alternative to standalone EMS and traceability solutions.

Aexis Medical, a leading provider of surgical instrument, theatre and endoscopy management software, today announced a series of significant enhancements to its XLine platform that expand its capabilities to encompass full Endoscopy Management System (EMS) functionality. The updates enable NHS trusts and independent endoscopy units to consolidate their workflows into a single, integrated system, reducing reliance on separate clinical and traceability solutions.

The announcement reflects Aexis Medical’s continued investment in responding to the operational and compliance challenges facing endoscopy units across the UK, including increasing scrutiny from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the ongoing requirements of JAG accreditation through the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy.

New capabilities at a glance

  • Direct image capture

XLine now supports the recording and storage of procedure images directly within the endoscopy workflow, alongside patient and device records. The solution uses supplier-agnostic hardware, eliminating vendor lock-in and reducing dependency on specialist IT support.

  • NEDi2-compliant procedure reporting

Developed in close collaboration with JAG, XLine now produces NEDi2-compliant procedure reports, enabling units to meet the latest reporting standards and consolidate their quality assurance and accreditation activity without a separate system.

  • Tristel wipe traceability workflow

A dedicated digital workflow now enables teams to log and evidence manual scope cleaning steps using Tristel wipes, removing the need for paper log books and creating an auditable decontamination record that supports CQC inspections and infection prevention governance.

“These enhancements represent a meaningful step forward for endoscopy units that want the clinical rigour of a dedicated EMS without the complexity of managing multiple systems. XLine can now deliver everything they need in one place — and we’re proud to have worked directly with JAG to ensure our reporting meets the highest standards.” – Dries Vanbiervliet, CEO of Aexis Medical

Beyond endoscopy, the expanded functionality opens new opportunities for XLine deployment in Theatres and ENT departments, where procedure data capture and device traceability requirements mirror those of the endoscopy unit. Trusts already using XLine in endoscopy are well placed to extend the same operational and compliance benefits across other departments without additional system investment.

Aexis Medical is offering demonstrations of the new XLine capabilities to existing and prospective customers. Units wishing to explore how XLine can replace or complement their current EMS are encouraged to request a consultation with their account manager.
