Aexis Medical, a European leader in digital tools for surgical, endoscopy, and decontamination workflows is accelerating its UK growth through three major milestones in three months: the appointment of Kieran Waterston as UK Commercial Director, the opening of a second UK office, and achieving ISO9001 certification.
Kieran Waterston joins as UK Commercial Director.
Waterston brings over 15 years of commercial leadership experience across the UK healthcare sector, spanning primary care, acute, community, pharmacy, and digital health. His background includes senior roles at Redmoor Health, TeleTracking International, iPlato (acquired by Huma), and EMIS Health (now part of Optum). Throughout his career, he has led high-performing commercial teams, delivering significant revenue growth across both private and NHS organisations.
“Kieran will play a central role in helping hospitals unlock new levels of efficiency, safety, and performance.”
“We are delighted to welcome Kieran to the leadership team,” said Dries Vanbiervliet, Co-Founder and CEO of Aexis Medical. “His extensive UK healthcare network, proven commercial track record, and deep understanding of hospital operations make him the ideal person to accelerate our UK ambitions. Kieran will play a central role in helping hospitals unlock new levels of efficiency, safety, and performance.”
New Manchester office and expanded UK team to support national operations.
Following Aexis Medical’s announcement of UK expansion, backed by growth partner Upliift and opening of a London office earlier this year, the second location in central Manchester will further develop Aexis Medical’s national operations and serve as a base for a local commercial team to enhance accessibility for customers across the North. This includes two strategic hires who bring added expertise in customer engagement and market development, focusing on strengthening relationships, providing responsive support, and helping providers identify opportunities to improve perioperative efficiency and compliance. Their combined experience ensures Aexis Medical’s UK customers will receive tailored solutions that drive measurable gains in productivity, patient safety, and resource utilisation.
ISO9001 certification underscores quality and compliance.
In late September, Aexis Medical achieved ISO9001 certification, a globally recognised standard for quality management systems. This milestone underscores the company’s strong engagement in the UK market and its commitment to operational excellence. The certification will also help facilitate new commercial routes to NHS frameworks, reinforcing Aexis Medical’s ability to deliver compliant, high-quality solutions to healthcare providers nationwide.
Driving UK Adoption of Proven Perioperative Workflow Solutions.
Aexis Medical has spent more than two decades transforming endoscopy workflows, theatre touch time utilisation, and sterile services capacity through its XLine platform. As the market leader in Belgium, XLine optimises procedure scheduling, improves instrument traceability, reduces delays, and strengthens compliance across surgical and endoscopy pathways.
With hospitals facing rising pressures around waiting list recovery, staff shortages, and operational inefficiencies, the company sees significant opportunity to support NHS and independent providers in modernising their perioperative care environments.
Building a UK Presence for Long-Term Impact.
Aexis Medical’s expanded UK footprint now includes over 30 customer sites, newly opened offices in central Manchester, a growing commercial team, and an active programme of engagement with trusts, industry partners, and professional bodies, including a Strategic Alliance with the British Association of Day Surgery.
With the support of Upliift and a dedicated UK leadership team, the company is positioning itself as a major contributor to the digital transformation of perioperative care and decontamination services across the UK.
